Kathy is passionate about the pursuit of excellence. In the course of her 35+ year career, she’s been a leader at one of the world’s top law firms, a nationally recognized healthcare regulatory expert, a hospital system trustee, a teacher and an entrepreneur.
LAW FIRM LEADER
Kathy spent her legal career with AmLaw #2-ranked Latham & Watkins LLP. Leveraging litigation defense experience, regulatory expertise, and transactional sophistication, Kathy fostered decades-long client relationships through her role as a highly integrated counselor in the room where decisions are made. As the global Co-Chair of Latham’s Healthcare & Life Sciences practice for 10+ years, Kathy’s leadership eyes focused on strategic growth and business development. As Vice-Chair of the firm’s Associate’s Committee, it was up to Kathy to oversee responsibilities including the compensation, evaluation, and promotion of the firm’s more than 2,000 associates.

Kathy represented some of the country’s most sophisticated public healthcare companies in enterprise-threatening civil and criminal fraud investigations as well as complex corporate transactions. Kathy is a recognized voice in matters pertaining to healthcare law. The National Law Journal named Kathy a Healthcare Trailblazer.
BOARDROOM
Kathy’s long-term leadership role on the Board of Trustees of Scripps Health, a $4.3B not-for-profit integrated healthcare system in San Diego, has prepared her for a wide range of boards. Her leadership included six years as Audit and Compliance Committee Chair, and two years as Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee and the Investment Committee.
TEACHER
Since leaving full-time practice as a partner at Latham, Kathy is committed to the education of law school students in healthcare law. To that end, she has joined with the Willamette University College of Law, where she contributes to the development of the curriculum of its Health Law Certificate Program and as a guest lecturer.
BUSINESS OWNER/POLICYMAKER
Kathy is Co-CEO of Bryn Mawr Vineyards in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Together with her husband, Jon, she collaborates on strategic planning, management operations and business development, and drives the enterprise’s focus on regenerative farming and sustainability.
